RUNS ON ELECTRICITY. NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT ITS TRULY REVOLUTIONARY INNOVATIONS.
This isn’t a fire truck redesign, it’s a reinvention. Every square inch reimagined. Safety. Maneuverability. Agility. Power. The RTX is as much an ergonomic extension of the fire fighter as it is a truck. And while others are bringing electric vehicles into the industry, they’re not bringing this. This is the leader. The high-water mark. And this changes everything. A nearly silent operation but generating a buzz reverberating around the world. The mission was sustainability of people, property and planet. The result is the ultimate firefighting machine.

Maneuverability is of the utmost importance for emergency vehicles. With the RX, Rosenbauer has pushed the limits of what is possible. Despite its spaciousness, the RX is only 92.5 inches wide, which ensures emergency crews can reach their destinations quickly and reliably, even when traveling on narrow streets and through tight passages. The two electric motors ensure unprecedented longitudinal dynamics for a fire truck. This enables rapid acceleration, especially in heavy traffic. The drive design, with its low center of gravity and balanced, even axle load distribution, provides important handling stability in every situation, reducing the risk of accidents. In addition, the newly developed wheel suspension facilitates a larger steering angle; this considerably reduces the turning radius, especially in an all-wheel drive system.
Safety, ergonomics and health protection
The RX offers ergonomic and tactical advantages, which provides less physical strain on the emergency crews and greater operational success. The driveshaft-free vehicle concept allows equipment compartments to be extended downward, reducing physical strain on emergency crews. In operation mode, the body can also be lowered to an entry height of just 10 inches. The RX’s many assistance systems help the crew stay safe and ensure accidents in difficult situations. This includes electronic rearview mirrors with an increased field of vision, full rearview due to an integrated rear camera, automatic object recognition to avoid collisions, and a night vision function. Cab communication for the emergency crew is improved through rotatable commander seats and an oval seating arrangement. In addition, powerful LED strips ensure shadowless illumination of the operating environment and, in many scenarios, eliminate the need for a light tower on the apparatus.
CO2 reduction and sustainability
The RT is powered by two electric motors with a total output of 490 hp and a charging capacity of 150 kW. This means the batteries can reach full efficiency again in almost no time, with flexible charging. This electric drive system offers a major advantage on the road: zero local emissions. The RX’s batteries ensure that no fuel has to be burned while driving. In addition, regenerative braking via the electric motors reduces brake wear and the creation of fine dust particles. This significantly benefits people and the environment, especially in urban areas. When the vehicle is stationary, the engine is automatically shut down, as the lighting and equipment are powered directly from the batteries. This greatly reduces the noise level at the scene, making work easier for rescue workers and benefitting nearby residents. Furthermore, no exhaust gases are emitted when extended pumping operations are not required. This greatly improves the air quality in the vehicle’s immediate surroundings. The RX also combines a state-of-the-art six-cylinder diesel engine with an electric motor as a power generator to provide an extra energy boost for longer operations. It can be used to power the RX, as well as external devices, if the batteries run low.
Network, connectivity and digitisation
The operating concept of the RX is based on simplification and consistency, so that errors can be avoided in the event of an emergency. The RX is the center of its own communication system. This includes an autonomous Wi-Fi, drone integration and a permanent link to the operations center and EMEREC data center. The RX can also include the optional RDS Connected Command System, which allows emergency crews to continuously receive necessary data, such as incident reports, building plans, camera images and more. This information is fed through a central deployment screen. Touchscreens are incorporated into the RX’s system and design throughout, which are intuitive and easy to use. In addition to conventional switches, a customizable actuation button ensures maximum simplification.
